USS Dolphin Challenge Coin

A stunning 1.5-inch hand-painted brass coin commemorating the USS Dolphin (AGSS-555)—the U.S. Navy’s last operational diesel-electric submarine. Designed as a deep-diving research and test platform, Dolphin was one of the most capable submarines of her kind. She set a record for the deepest dive ever achieved by a conventionally powered U.S. submarine, reaching depths in excess of 3,000 feet—an extraordinary feat of engineering. Now preserved in San Diego, Dolphin is part of the collection at the Maritime Museum of San Diego, where she continues to educate and inspire visitors with her unique role in naval research and development.
