USS Bowfin Challenge Coin

A beautiful 1.5-inch brass coin featuring the USS Bowfin SS 287 patch and her nickname "Pearl Harbor Avenger" on the front. Nicknamed the "Pearl Harbor Avenger," the Bowfin was launched December 7, 1942, on the Pearl Harbor attack's first anniversary. Though the United States had long since engaged Japan in conflict since the surprise assault, the USS Bowfin launch marked a momentous occasion. It proved that ”despite the tragedy from which the country was still recovering” it would emerge stronger than ever. The back is my own copyright protected design to honor our diesel boat sailors and has the following quote that I felt was perfect for this coin:
