Product Description

December 7, 1941 ..."A date which will live in Infamy"... Japanese fighter planes attacked the United States Naval base in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, launching one of the deadliest attacks in American history. The assault lasted more than two hours, claimed the lives of more than 2,500 people, wounded 1,000 more and damaged or destroyed 18 American ships and nearly 300 airplanes. Almost half of the casualties occurred on the USS Arizona BB-39, which was hit four times by Japanese bombers.

A beautiful 1.75 inch brass coin. This unique coin features the USS Nevada BB-36 on the front of the coin. The back of the coin features the "Last Torpedo" by artist Tom Freeman. This image shows the USS Oklahoma, starting to capsize after she was struck by Lt Jinichi Goto's second torpedo. Moored outboard alongside the Oklahoma is the USS Maryland BB-46. Directly behind them are the USS Tennessee BB-43 and USS West Virginia BB-48, the first battleship to be hit. The fireball is the moment the USS Arizona BB-39's forward powder magazines exploded after being hit by an 800-kilogram bomb.

OPTIONAL: Our Air-Tite acrylic cases provide the ultimate long-term protection for your coin. They are made of crystal clear, hard Acrylic and will never yellow over time; the foam rings are made of Volara and both are free of PVC that could damage your coin.
