Born in Massachusetts in 1965, he has always had a passion for nature since childhood. Now an experienced diver and underwater videographer for over 25 years, he has filmed some of the most spectacular marine life around the world. He uses the footage for reference while sculpting, enabling him to create incredibly detailed and life-like work. His passion for our Oceans has led him to use his art to help create awareness and become involved in protecting threatened species around the world.
Big Blue, established in 1997, offers a wide variety of marine life and diving gifts for all ocean enthusiasts. These finely crafted treasures and wearable art are all designed and hand-sculpted by artist and conservationist Roland St. John. Many styles are incredibly detailed and accurate representations of some of the fascinating animals in our oceans and are sculpted to capture the essence and flowing motion in contemporary styling.
