Product Description

Built in only 56 days and entering service in 1943, the SS Jeremiah O’Brien is a Liberty Ship which served during World War II. During the war, the ship made four round-trip crossings of the Atlantic. She was also part of the armada which took part in the D-Day invasion of Europe. Following D-Day, Jerimiah O’Brien served 16 months in the Pacific Theater of operations. The ship was placed in storage after the war and saved from being scrapped by a group of volunteers who restored the ship in the 1980s. SS Jeremiah O’Brien steamed across the Atlantic to take part in the 50th-anniversary celebration of the D-Day landings. This print is a tribute to all those who have served in the Merchant Marine. Docked today at Pier 45 in San Francisco, she makes several passenger-carrying daylight cruises each year in the San Francisco Bay Area and occasional voyages to more distant ports such as Seattle and San Diego.

Liberty Ship SS Jeremiah O'Brien by Mark Karvon is made from high quality 1/4" thick birch plywood with beveled and stained edges, featuring two wood support bars for hanging. Each 12 x 15-inch sign is made in the USA and features a natural finish to showcase the beautiful wood grain beneath the image.
